Nordhavnen - Masterplan spring 2012

The harbor area of Nordhavn, will in years ahead undergo a massive transition, from being an almost abandoned industrial area, into a new thriving region with residential, commercial and educational facilities.

The proposal for the masterplan in the Århusgade district, is based on a simple gradient principle, where the density of the capital is extended, thereby linking the city to the harbor area, and slowly dissolving the city towards the water.

The principle is further emphasized in a fragmentation of the whole harbor. The area is divided into different islets, each possessing a individual identity, through the typological, functional and recreational factors that dominate the specific islet.
